Ignoring Derek entirely, Walter walked straight past his star pupil. He stopped three feet in front of Jerome. To the utter disbelief of everyone in the room, Walter Griffin—the grandmaster of the academy, a man who bowed to no one—placed his feet together, brought his hands to his sides, and bowed deeply, perfectly bending at a ninety-degree angle.

"Master Fischer," Walter said, his voice trembling with profound respect. "I had no idea you were here. It is an immense honor to have you in my dojo."

The silence in the hall was deafening. Derek's jaw dropped. The phones that had been recording the 'joke' slowly lowered as confusion swept through the students.

Walter straightened up and turned his furious gaze toward Derek. "Master Fischer holds a fifth-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. He trained under Master Hideo in Okinawa. He is a decorated veteran and a martial artist of a caliber you can only dream of achieving."

Derek stammered, the color draining from his face. "But... he's just the janitor! My dad—"

"I don't care about your father's money," Walter interrupted fiercely. "Disrespecting a man of this stature, bullying anyone in this sanctuary, goes against everything martial arts stands for. Pack your gear, Derek. You are no longer welcome at Griffin's Academy."

In the weeks that followed, the atmosphere at Griffin's Academy changed entirely. Derek's departure sent a clear message about respect and discipline. Walter refunded Garrett Coleman's donations, preferring a smaller, honorable dojo over a wealthy, corrupted one.

Jerome Fischer never mopped the floors again. At Walter's earnest request, he stepped onto the mats as the academy's new head combat instructor. He wore a crisp white gi and his heavily frayed, fifth-degree black belt—a testament to years of rigorous, authentic training.

He taught with quiet authority, emphasizing humility, control, and respect above all else. Carla Davis and the other students thrived under his guidance. Jerome finally found peace, realizing that his skills were not a curse to be hidden, but a gift to be shared. The invisible janitor had become the heart of the dojo.
