When Mark politely told her to get off his property, Brenda did what she always did when denied: she dialed 911.
Chapter II: The Confrontation
Within ten minutes, patrol cruiser 108 pulled up to the curb. Officer Harris stepped out, his hand resting casually near his duty belt as he walked up the driveway.
"Officer! Right here!" Brenda shrieked, her finger jabbing the air inches from Mark’s face. "He refused my HOA order and became openly hostile! He has illegal industrial equipment operating on residential property!"
Officer Harris held up both hands in a calming gesture, looking between Brenda’s flushed face and the tranquil demeanor of the homeowner.
"Sir, step away from the pump while I figure out what happened here," Officer Harris instructed Mark calmly.
Mark released the trigger on the nozzle, letting the auto-shutoff click into place. He turned slowly, his face completely composed, resting one gloved hand against the tailgate of his truck.
