Martin listened.

"He was wrong."

Tyler's eyes became wet.

Martin didn't comfort him.

He simply sat beside him.

That was enough.

Later that day, Tyler apologized publicly.

Not with a carefully scripted video.

Not with a sponsorship announcement.

He stood in the center of the gym and spoke without a phone in his hand.

"I treated Martin badly."

Nobody moved.

"I treated a lot of people badly."

He looked toward Jake.

"Because I thought being strong meant everyone else had to feel small."

Jake nodded slowly.

Tyler turned toward Sarah.

"I'm sorry."

Then he looked at Martin.

"I'm especially sorry to you."

Martin nodded.

"Apology accepted."

Tyler looked relieved.

But Martin added:

"Now prove it."

CHAPTER 9

Three months later, something remarkable had happened.

Champions Den had changed.

The gym was quieter.

Not because people were afraid.

Because they respected one another.

Tyler started arriving early.

He cleaned his own equipment.

He helped younger fighters.

And when someone made a mistake, he stopped laughing.

Instead, he taught them.

Martin continued working.

But now people greeted him every morning.

"Good morning, Coach."

Martin always corrected them.

"I'm not a coach."

Everyone laughed.

"Sure, Coach."

Eventually, Frank Wilson approached him.

"I owe you an apology."

Martin looked up from the gloves he was organizing.

Frank sighed.

"I valued money more than people."

Martin nodded.

"At least you know."

Frank handed him an envelope.

"What's this?"

"Your retirement compensation."

Martin pushed it back.

"I don't need it."

"It's not charity."

Martin looked at him.

"Then what is it?"

"An acknowledgment."

Martin considered the envelope.

Then accepted it.

But the biggest surprise came two weeks later.

A group of young fighters approached Martin.

Jake spoke first.

"We want to learn."

Martin smiled.

"Learn what?"

"Everything."

Martin laughed.

"That's a lot."

"We've got time."
