Rosa smiled, a venomous curve of her lips. “Important people don’t show up looking like him. And they certainly don't throw tantrums in the driveway.”Marcus reached into his pocket and took out his phone.“Go ahead,” Rosa challenged, waving a hand dismissively. “Call anyone you like. Call the police. They'll tell you the same thing I did: you're trespassing.”“That’s exactly what I’m doing,” Marcus said softly, his thumb moving swiftly over the screen. “I'm calling someone.”She pointed sharply toward the exit of the driveway. “Try another hotel. You’re not staying here. Ever.”Marcus pressed the phone to his ear. “You’ve made yourself perfectly clear.”Rosa looked at Walter’s coat again with obvious disgust. “Good. Maybe your father will finally understand how the real world works.”The line connected. Marcus didn't raise his voice, but the absolute authority in his tone was unmistakable. “Richard. Your manager is humiliating my father in your lobby. Come down now.”Upstairs, in a plush corner office overlooking the city, hotel director Richard Lawson was in the middle of a tense budget meeting. His private cell phone vibrated on the polished mahogany desk. He normally ignored calls during meetings, but when he saw Marcus Brooks’s name flash on the screen, his stomach dropped. He answered immediately.“Marcus? What’s going on? Is everything alright?”“She refused to verify his reservation,” Marcus’s voice was lethally calm. “And she had security remove him from the premises.”Richard stood up so quickly his heavy leather chair rolled backward and hit the wall with a thud. The executives in his office stared at him in alarm. “She... she actually did that?” he stammered, the blood draining from his face.“Come down here, Richard,” Marcus said. “And let her explain it to you herself.”“I’ll be there immediately. God, I'm on my way.” Richard dropped the phone, bypassed the elevators, and practically sprinted for the VIP stairwell.Back down in the driveway, Rosa laughed openly. “You seriously called Richard? The Hotel Director?”Marcus said nothing. He just watched her, his eyes unblinking.“Perfect,” Rosa said, brimming with arrogant satisfaction. “He’ll personally send both of you out. He doesn't tolerate this kind of harassment from non-guests.”Walter looked at his son. He saw the cold, calculated stillness in Marcus’s posture. That calmness made Walter understand something Rosa still had not grasped: Marcus was no longer trying to convince her. He wasn't arguing. He was simply waiting for her to finish digging her own grave. He was letting her expose the absolute rot in her character.A moment later, the VIP elevator doors in the lobby flew open. Richard Lawson practically fell out, his suit jacket flapping, his face flushed and panicked. He spotted them outside and hurried through the glass doors.Rosa immediately turned and walked toward him, her expression shifting instantly from venomous to professionally aggrieved. “Richard, thank God. These two have been a problem all afternoon. They're harassing the staff.”Richard didn't even look at her. His horrified gaze bypassed her entirely and landed squarely on Marcus and Walter. “What kind of problem?” he managed to choke out, his voice trembling.
