Twenty-five years passed.

The city had modernized with glass facades and high-speed transit, but the quiet street corner lined with towering palm trees remained largely unchanged. Marcus was still there.

Now an elderly man with graying temples and slower movements, Marcus continued to operate his humble food cart. His white apron was still impeccably clean, and the sizzle of burgers on the griddle remained a constant comfort in a shifting world. Business was modest, just enough to pay his monthly rent and keep the cart running.

It was well past midnight. The streetlights cast soft silver halos across the asphalt when a sleek, black luxury sedan pulled silently up to the curb beside the cart.

The rear door opened. A tall, impeccably dressed man stepped out onto the sidewalk. He wore a sharp charcoal three-piece suit, polished leather shoes, and carried an aura of quiet authority.

Marcus wiped down the stainless steel counter with a towel, glancing up with a polite, weary smile. "Evening, sir. A bit late, but I can still make you a fresh burger if you’d like."

The man did not order. He stood silently for a moment, his eyes scanning the cart, the griddle, and the weathered face of the man who had shown him grace when he had nothing.

"I’m here to pay for a meal," the gentleman said softly.
