" My jaw dropped.

Margaret smiled warmly, a sickeningly sweet expression.

"Oh, fifty dollars will be fine, dear.

Consider it a special rate for a fellow resident.

Just make sure you clean up your towels before you leave, the owner is quite fussy.

" She was renting out my pool.

The HOA President was running an illegal, unlicensed, and highly profitable side hustle by sub-letting my private property by the hour while I was supposedly at work.

The liability implications alone were terrifying.

If one of those kids slipped and hit their head, I could be sued into oblivion.

This was no longer just a nuisance or a breach of privacy; this was theft and severe endangerment.

The gloves were officially off.

I spent the entire weekend compiling the footage.

I didn't just have one or two clips; I had hours of high-definition video and audio.

I organized the files chronologically on a secure encrypted drive.

I had Margaret drinking wine alone.

I had the HOA board throwing their illicit party.

And the golden ticket: crystal clear video and audio of Margaret accepting cash in exchange for pool access.

I also consulted with a lawyer friend of mine over a long phone call.

He was astounded by the footage.

"This is a slam dunk," he told me, laughing in disbelief.

"Trespassing, breaking and entering—since she's using a key without permission to access a locked area—and operating an illegal business on private property.

Not to mention the massive breach of fiduciary duty to the HOA.

" He advised me to call the police the next time she was on the property, but I had a better plan.

I wanted it to be public.

I wanted the entire neighborhood, the people she had bullied and fined for years, to see exactly who their President was.

The monthly HOA meeting was scheduled for the following Wednesday at the community center.

It was the perfect stage for the grand finale.

The Whispering Pines community center was packed that Wednesday evening.

The air conditioning was struggling against the heat of seventy irritated homeowners.

Margaret sat at the head table on the small stage, flanked by the very same board members who had been drinking my champagne in my hot tub just days prior.

She was in the middle of a stern lecture about the "unacceptable rise in unauthorized trash can placements" when I stood up from the back row.
