The company had been recommended by the HOA itself.

He began keeping copies of everything.

Every letter.

Every email.

Every photograph.

Every invoice.

Every timestamp.

He didn't argue.

He documented.

Then Karen discovered the Lamborghini.

It wasn't simply an expensive car.

The dark-blue vehicle was one of three development platforms being used by Cole Mobility Technologies to test a new encrypted control architecture.

The prototype hardware beneath the dashboard was worth more than the vehicle itself.

Marcus had brought it home temporarily because engineers were preparing for a demonstration.

Karen saw only the badge on the hood.

She assumed it represented arrogance.

She told neighbors Marcus was “showing off.”

She claimed the vehicle would lower property values.

Then she demanded that he remove it.

Marcus refused.

Karen escalated.

She issued a violation.

Marcus appealed.

She called an emergency meeting.

The board rejected her proposed resolution.

Karen ignored the vote.

That afternoon, she arrived at Marcus's house carrying a violation folder and a sledgehammer.

She claimed she had the right to “disable” an unsafe vehicle until a tow truck arrived.

Marcus had been inside his garage when he heard the first impact.

CRACK.

The passenger-side windshield exploded.

Marcus walked outside.

“Put the hammer down.”

Karen raised it again.

“You've been warned.”

“Karen.”

“This vehicle is a danger to the community.”

“Drop the hammer.”

She swung again.

Marcus immediately started recording.

What Karen didn't know was that the board was already watching.

And she was about to turn a simple HOA dispute into a criminal investigation.

Karen dropped the hammer only after she realized six board members had watched her destroy the Lamborghini.

It landed on the driveway with a heavy metallic thud.

Marcus pointed toward it.

“You all saw that.”

Elaine's voice came through the phone.

“We did.”

Karen backed toward the street.

“This meeting is invalid.”

“You've been removed as president,” Elaine said.

“You can't remove me!”

“You're no longer authorized to speak on behalf of the association.”

Karen ignored her.

“This man is harassing me.”

Marcus shook his head.

“You entered my private property with a weapon.”

“It was a tool.”

“It became a weapon when you used it against my property.”

Sirens approached.

Karen's expression changed.

“You called the police?”

“Yes.”

“You called the police on me?”

Marcus looked at the shattered windshield.

“After you struck my car twice.”

Two police cruisers entered Hawthorne Court.

Officer Nina Patel stepped out.

She looked at the hammer.

Then the Lamborghini.

Then Karen.

“Who damaged the vehicle?”

Karen immediately pointed toward Marcus.

“He did.”

Marcus said nothing.

Officer Patel looked at the camera above the garage.

“Is that recording?”

“Yes.”

“Can we see it?”

“Absolutely.”

Marcus pulled up the footage.

It showed Karen entering the driveway.

It showed her demanding the vehicle keys.

It showed Marcus telling her to leave.

It showed the first strike.
