command. It wasn't just music; it was an interrogation. It demanded the room to feel the cold, the hunger, and the profound, echoing loss of a mother’s love.

Trent Ellison stood frozen, the glass of Krug champagne slipping slightly in his grip. The arrogant sneer had vanished, replaced by a pale, slack-jawed shock.

Phoebe poured every ounce of her soul into the final crescendo, striking chords that seemed to shake the very limestone of the estate, before letting the music cascade down into a soft, solitary, and weeping resolution.

She held the final chord, letting the vibration slowly die in the summer air.

As if a spell had been broken, the entire terrace erupted. Two hundred of Philadelphia’s elite rose to their feet in dead silence just moments before, now shouting and cheering in a deafening standing ovation.

Phoebe didn't bow. She simply looked at her hands, trembling slightly, and slowly closed the lid of the keys. She picked up her frayed backpack and slung it over her shoulder.
