Those were the words I had spoken. In the operational ledger of the Golden Crown, that phrase didn't mean call the police. It didn't mean send a rescue team.

It meant absolute, immediate financial and operational liquidation.

"You think your father's lawyers work for him?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, yet it cut through the murmurs of the crowd like a razor.

Tristan frowned, confused by the question. "He pays them."

"He pays them with my money," I said simply.

Tristan stared at me, his brow furrowing. "You're insane. You have brain damage." He turned to Bryce. "Call campus security. Tell them there's a crazy homeless guy threatening us."

Bryce didn't move. Bryce was staring past Tristan, looking toward the main gates of the campus.

"Tristan," Bryce whispered, his voice trembling.

The ground beneath our feet began to vibrate. It started as a faint tremor, barely noticeable against the ambient noise of the school, but within seconds, it swelled into a deep, rhythmic thrumming that rattled the glass in the windows of the administration building.

The school's PA system, mounted on the brick walls, suddenly screeched with a burst of heavy static, whining in protest before cutting out completely.

The students lowered their phones, turning their heads toward the sound. The low, thunderous rumble was growing louder, echoing off the Pacific cliffs. It sounded like an earthquake rolling over the asphalt.

"What is that?" a girl in the front row asked, stepping backward.

I looked at Tristan. The arrogant smirk finally melted off his face, replaced by a nascent, creeping confusion. He looked at me, then at the entrance of the parking lot, his heart finally realizing that the world he thought he owned was about to end.

"That," I said quietly, pulling my torn leather jacket back over my shoulders, "is the water draining."

The iron gates of Sterling Preparatory Academy didn't just open. They were violently forced apart.

CHAPTER 4

The massive wrought-iron gates groaned in protest before one side sheared completely off its hinges, pushed backward by the reinforced grill of a black SUV.

The crowd of wealthy students gasped and scattered, scrambling backward toward the safety of the administration steps.

Through the ruined gates poured an armada of machinery. Fifty heavy, customized motorcycles—Harleys, Indian Chieftains, and Street Glides—roared onto the pristine campus, their exhausts echoing like rolling thunder. They were painted matte black, moving in absolute, terrifying unison.

Behind the motorcycles rolled three immaculate, midnight-black Mercedes-Maybach sedans, their tinted windows reflecting the bright morning sun.

The motorcycles swept into Parking Lot 3 like a military strike force. They didn't rev their engines or shout. They moved with a chilling, disciplined precision, forming a massive steel ring around the outside of the parking lot, effectively boxing in the crowd, Tristan's Lamborghini, and me.

The riders wore heavy leather cuts over business suits. No one smiled. No one spoke. The sheer presence of fifty hardened men staring in total silence created a suffocating pressure.
