Victoria swung around, her phone clutched tightly in her manicured hand, pointing an accusatory finger straight at John’s chest. "He threatened my son! He came out here violently and endangered my boy on our own street!"

John didn’t flinch. His deep, calm voice cut through her hysterical accusations with the weight of steel. "Are you certain that is the statement you want recorded, ma'am?"

Victoria let out a shrill, mocking laugh, tossing her head back in disbelief. "You think you can intimidate me? You think a mechanic in flannel scares me? Officers, do your job! Put him in cuffs!"

The lead officer, Officer Hayes, stepped between them, raising a placating hand toward Victoria before turning to John. "Sir, step back from the vehicle. May I see your identification?"

John nodded slowly, maintaining unbroken eye contact with Victoria. "Of course, officer. My wallet is in my back pocket. I am reaching for it now."
