A wave of shocked murmurs rippled through the boardroom. But Marcus was watching Arthur. A microscopic twitch in Arthur’s left eyelid, lasting less than a fraction of a second, was all the confirmation Marcus needed.

"The Sterlings have retaliated," Marcus continued, his voice dropping in volume, forcing everyone to lean in. "They are targeting my family's literacy center. But they made a fatal error. The ledger requires a dual-authorization cipher to decode the offshore accounts. Vanessa didn't have it. The cipher is held by a senior board member. A traitor sitting in this very room."

Arthur cleared his throat, his expression perfectly composed. "These are incredibly grave allegations, Marcus. If we have a mole, we must turn this over to the federal authorities immediately and let them conduct a thorough sweep of our digital footprint."

"That is impossible," Arthur blurted out, his voice sharp and defensive.

The entire room went dead silent. All eyes slowly turned toward Arthur. The distinguished older man realized his mistake instantly. He had reacted not with relief, but with absolute certainty that the cipher could not have been found.

Marcus leaned forward, his elbows resting on the mahogany table. "How would you know it's impossible, Uncle Arthur? Unless you are the one holding it."

The aristocratic facade of the elder statesman crumbled in real-time. Arthur’s face contorted into a snarl of bitter resentment. He stood up slowly, buttoning his suit jacket.

"You were always too idealistic, Marcus," Arthur sneered, the warmth entirely gone from his eyes. "You parade around in work boots and canvas jackets, pretending to care about the working class, pouring millions into useless literacy centers. The Sterlings offered stability. They offered exponential growth. I secured the legacy of this bank while you played the benevolent billionaire."

"You sold our integrity to a mafia syndicate," Marcus said softly, the betrayal cutting deeper than any financial loss ever could. "You authorized Vanessa’s prejudice. You allowed her to humiliate our clients to keep the branch's numbers artificially inflated, masking the dirty money flowing through the back channels."

Red emergency lights flared to life, casting an eerie, blood-red glow over the panicked board members. Daniel lunged for the door, but the reinforced locking mechanism held firm. Arthur was already stepping back toward the private executive elevator, flanked by two corporate security guards who immediately drew their weapons, aiming them directly at Marcus and Daniel.

"The literacy center burns tonight, Marcus," Arthur said as the elevator doors slid open behind him. "And by the time you cut your way out of this room, the Sterling family will have drained every liquid asset from Westbridge Financial. Goodbye, nephew."

The elevator doors closed, taking Arthur and his rogue security detail down to the parking garage.

"Daniel, the doors!" Marcus shouted over the rising panic of the board members.
