At this moment, however, Mercer was not looking powerful. He was pale, sweating profusely, and frantically adjusting his silk tie as he took the stairs two at a time.

Victoria’s eyes widened in sheer delight. Mr. Mercer himself! She assumed the executive board had arrived early for the annual shareholder inspection. Seeing Mercer rush toward the entrance, she immediately assumed he was furious at the security breach.

Victoria smoothed her skirt, put on her most professional, sycophantic smile, and stepped forward to greet him.

"Mr. Mercer! Good morning, sir," Victoria said, projecting total competence. "I apologize profusely for this hideous scene. A vagrant managed to slip past the outer gate, but don't worry—I am handling the situation right now. I was just having him removed from the property—"

Mercer didn't even look at her. He brushed past Victoria with such velocity that his shoulder clipped hers, nearly knocking her off her high heels.

Mercer rushed straight toward the man in the tattered coat. When he was three paces away, the powerful CEO stopped abruptly, snapped his heels together, and bowed from the waist at a full forty-five-degree angle.

"Mr. Vance," Mercer said, his voice trembling with a mixture of terror and profound reverence. "Sir! We... we had no idea you would arrive unannounced. We were prepared to receive you at the private helipad at noon!"

The courtyard fell into a silence so absolute that the rustle of the palm trees sounded like thunder.

Victoria’s breath caught in her throat. Her smirk froze, cracking into a grotesque mask of confusion. "M-Mr. Mercer? What... who is this?"

Mercer slowly straightened his posture and turned toward Victoria. His face was no longer pale; it was flushed with sheer, burning rage.

"Who is this?" Mercer’s voice thundered across the entire entrance. "You ignorant, reckless fool! You just insulted Arthur Vance! The founder, majority shareholder, and sole owner of the Vance Global Trust—and the man whose signature built every single brick of this hotel!"

Victoria felt the blood drain entirely from her body. Her knees buckled; she had to reach out to steady herself against a golden banister.

Arthur Vance. The legendary reclusive billionaire. The man who had vanished from the public eye five years ago after transferring his wealth into global philanthropic initiatives, choosing to live anonymously, traveling across his properties incognito to observe the true nature of his empire from the ground up.

"I... I..." Victoria stammered, her voice shaking violently. "I didn't... he was wearing... his coat..."

Arthur slowly walked toward Victoria. Every step of his worn leather boots sounded like the ticking of a doomsday clock. He stopped inches from her, looking down with calm, sorrowful eyes.

"You see a coat, Ms. Sterling," Arthur said softly, "and you believe you have seen the man. You measure a soul by the thread count of their fabric and the shine of their shoes."

He turned slightly toward the young bellhop, who stood frozen in shock.

"When I arrived," Arthur continued, "this young man saw an old traveler in need of a helping hand. He showed respect, dignity, and true hospitality—the very pillars upon which I founded this brand forty years ago. But you? You saw an opportunity to practice cruelty. You believed your polished suit gave you license to dehumanize another living being."

Victoria’s eyes welled with tears of humiliation and panic. "Mr. Vance... please, forgive me. I was only trying to protect the hotel's image! I work twelve hours a day for this brand! Please, sir!"
