THE FENCE JUMPER AT WILLOW CREEK
Chapter I: The Yellow Swimsuit and the Wooden Gate
It was a blistering ninety-degree afternoon in the manicured suburban enclave of Willow Creek. In the backyard of Lot 18, clear blue water rippled invitingly in a private in-ground swimming pool surrounded by a tall, six-foot cedar privacy fence.
Suddenly, two manicured hands gripped the top of the wooden gate.
Hopping over the locked barrier and landing with bare feet onto the lush green grass was Brenda Vance, the self-appointed president of the Willow Creek HOA. Dressed in a bright yellow one-piece swimsuit, dark oversized sunglasses, and a wide-brim straw sunhat, Brenda adjusted her posture and strutted toward the pool edge with absolute entitlement.
Without a second thought, she stepped down the pool steps and waded into the refreshing water.
"What the hell?! Get out of my pool!"
