“They tracked us!” Daniel roared, kicking his warped door open and laying down suppressive fire with his sidearm as a hail of automatic gunfire hammered against the Range Rover’s armored plating. Sparks showered the dark street like deadly fireworks.

Marcus remained terrifyingly calm. He kicked out the shattered passenger door, rolling across the wet asphalt to take cover behind a concrete barrier. He pulled a compact, high-velocity assault rifle from a duffel bag, his eyes rapidly calculating the tactical geometry of the street. Four heavily armed mercenaries were advancing in a tight, professional diamond formation, cross-firing to trap them in a kill zone. But they had no idea who they were dealing with. Marcus utilized the heavy rain and the chaotic shadows to slip perfectly out of their line of sight. Appearing completely on their flank, Marcus fired three precise, controlled bursts, dropping the two lead shooters instantly before they could even register his position. The sudden, lethal counter-attack broke the enemy formation, allowing Daniel to pin the remaining shooters down. “Move!” Marcus commanded, his voice cold and devoid of mercy. They sprinted toward the entrance of an abandoned underground transit tunnel, vanishing into the subterranean darkness of London before Sterling’s reinforcements could arrive.

Chapter 25

While Marcus engaged in a bloody street war across the Atlantic, the boardroom at Westbridge Financial in New York was descending into total anarchy. The remaining executive directors, terrified by Arthur’s treason and the catastrophic hemorrhage of billions in offshore funds, were in full-blown panic. Several senior partners were openly drafting emergency surrender documents, fully intending to hand over majority voting rights to the Sterling conglomerate in a desperate bid to save their own lives and personal fortunes.

“We are financially ruined! Marcus has dragged us all into a grave!” a regional vice president shouted, slamming his fist onto the mahogany table. “Our only survival option is to contact Elias Sterling directly and beg for an amnesty agreement. We cannot fight an international syndicate!”

The heavy boardroom doors were suddenly shoved open. Elena strode into the room, her small frame radiating an overwhelming, authoritative presence that silenced the shouting executives. She was no longer wearing her standard teller uniform; she was dressed in a sharp, tailored black suit, holding an encrypted tablet displaying a complex matrix of scrolling data.

“Nobody in this room is contacting anyone,” Elena announced, her voice echoing with absolute authority as she walked directly to the head of the table—Marcus’s seat. “I am the Operations Director appointed directly by the majority shareholder. Anyone who attempts to leave this room, or proposes surrendering this institution, will be immediately charged with criminal conspiracy.”

“You are insane, girl! You are nothing but a pawn!” the vice president sneered, stepping aggressively toward her.

Elena did not retreat a single inch. She connected her tablet to the central projection system. Instantly, highly classified banking ledgers and recorded audio files flooded the massive screens. “The dead man’s switch the Sterlings installed in my branch wasn't just designed to erase customer files. It contained the complete, unredacted history of every illicit bribe Elias deposited into the personal offshore accounts of at least three directors sitting at this table.” Her gaze swept across the room, watching the blood drain from their faces. “Mr. Reed is in London cutting the head off the snake. My job is to clean out its nest. Sit down, authorize the asset freeze, or these files go to the FBI in exactly ten seconds.” The room fell into dead, terrified silence. Elena had seized total control.

Chapter 26

Deep within a decaying, centuries-old tavern hidden in a forgotten alleyway of Mayfair, the flickering light of an oil lamp cast long, dancing shadows across the scarred wooden table. Marcus sat in the darkest corner of the pub, facing a woman with sharp, angular features, raven-black hair, and piercing grey eyes. She wore a heavy trench coat soaked with rain. This was Evelyn Sterling, Elias’s estranged daughter, the brilliant rogue architect who had originally coded the framework for the phantom algorithm before her father betrayed her and stole her life’s work.
