Dex moved faster. The younger biker intercepted Carl, grabbing him by the front of his expensive polo shirt and lifting him clean off his toes. Dex shoved Carl backward, sending him stumbling onto the grass.
"Touch the President again," Dex whispered, his voice vibrating with violence, "and I'll break every finger on your hand."
Bear stood up slowly, breaking the seal on the envelope. He pulled out the documents. The first page was on official legal letterhead, signed and notarized by a prominent county judge who was a known friend of the MC.
Bear read the first paragraph. His eyes went cold. He slowly lowered the paper and looked at Carl, who was scrambling to his feet, panting heavily.
"You made one hell of a mistake, Carl," Bear said, his voice dropping to a terrifying calm.
Chapter 3: The True Heir
The suburban lawn was dead quiet, save for the low hum of the distant highway. Carl stared at the papers in Bear’s massive hands, his face draining of all color.
"Those are fakes," Carl stammered, pointing a shaking finger. "I have the legal documents in the house! My wife left me everything! You’re just making this up to steal my property!"
Bear didn't raise his voice. He didn't need to. "This isn't a letter from your wife, Carl. This is Jax's will. Signed, sealed, and notarized five years ago, three days before he died."
Bear flipped to the second page, holding it up so Carl could see the thick notary seal pressed into the paper.
"Jax knew the risks of his life," Bear said, reading the document aloud, his deep voice carrying across the lawn. "He left this house, his life insurance, and every dime to a protected trust in Mia's name. And right here, on page three... he legally appointed me as the executor of that trust, and as Mia's godfather and primary legal guardian in the event of her mother's passing."
Carl took a staggering step backward. "No. That’s... that’s impossible. Her mother signed a new will!"
"A forged will, I'm guessing," Prophet said, stepping up beside Bear holding a stack of bank statements he had just pulled from the bottom of the lockbox. Prophet’s eyes were narrowed to deadly slits. "Looks like Jax kept records of everything before he died. Including the fact that this house was fully paid off in cash and put in the trust's name. You can't inherit a house from your wife if the wife didn't own it, Carl."
