Clara glanced down at Victoria’s dropped tablet, then looked straight into Victoria’s pale, trembling face.
"You told me that this hospital is only for credentialed donors," Clara said, her voice gentle yet carrying the crushing weight of sovereign authority. "You forgot that every brick in this facility was laid to serve the sick, the elderly, and the vulnerable."
Clara turned to Dr. Sterling.
"Mrs. Cross is terminated immediately from all administrative duties across the Vance Healthcare Network. Clear her office before the end of the hour."
Victoria attempted to speak, but only choked gasps came from her throat as security escorted her toward the exit doors.
Clara then turned to Emily, who stood wide-eyed in disbelief. Clara reached out, taking the young receptionist’s trembling hands into her own with profound warmth.
"You risked your own paycheck today simply to give a voice to someone you believed had none," Clara said softly. "That is the exact heart this hospital needs at the top."
Clara looked at the board members.
"Emily will be taking over as Director of Patient Advocacy and Frontline Operations, reporting directly to me. Prepare her executive onboarding immediately."
With a nod to the cheering staff and nurses gathered in the atrium, Clara linked her arm with Emily’s, walking together toward the elevators to begin a new era of compassion.
