Chloe stood up, her eyes blazing with twenty years of stolen justice. "Yes. And tomorrow morning, we are going to tear his legacy to the ground."

The glass-walled boardroom of Lawson Development sat on the fiftieth floor, overlooking the Chicago skyline. For two decades, it had been a fortress of untouchable wealth.

Today, it was a war zone.

Thomas Lawson marched through the double doors, his cane striking the marble floor like a gavel. Martha flanked his left. Chloe flanked his right. Behind them walked Rachel Bennett, a veteran attorney who had quietly waited twenty years for this exact moment.

The emergency board meeting fell dead silent.

Richard Dale, the current Managing Director and a ruthless corporate shark, stood up. "Thomas, what is the meaning of this? You haven't called a board meeting in years."

"Sit down, Richard," Thomas commanded.

Rachel stepped forward, dropping three heavy cardboard boxes onto the polished mahogany table.

"Twenty years ago, Sarah Vance discovered a massive embezzlement ring within this firm," Rachel stated, her voice echoing off the glass. "Julian Lawson orchestrated it. And when Sarah tried to stop it, Julian framed her, fired her, and threatened her family."

Richard scoffed, waving his hand. "This is ancient history. Julian has been dead for a decade. What are you trying to prove?"

Thomas reached into the box. He pulled out a stack of original, signed memorandums.

"I am proving that my brother was a monster," Thomas said, his voice trembling with furious grief. "And I am proving that this board helped him cover it up."

He slammed the documents onto the table.

"Effective immediately," Thomas announced, "Lawson Development will issue a full public confession. We will formally clear Sarah Vance’s name. And we will strip Julian’s name from every building, trust, and foundation in this city."

The boardroom erupted into chaos. Executives shouted over one another.

Richard Dale slammed his fists onto the table, his face purple with rage. "You are out of your mind! If you release this to the press, our stock will plummet. The SEC will investigate. You will destroy billions of dollars in shareholder value overnight!"

Thomas looked at Richard with eyes like frozen iron.

"Then let it burn," Thomas whispered. "Because I am resigning. And I am liquidating my controlling shares."

The silence that followed was absolute. Thomas Lawson had just pulled the pin on a financial grenade that would vaporize his own empire. He turned to Chloe, offering a grim, apologetic nod, and walked toward the exit.

But just as Thomas reached the door, Chloe’s phone buzzed violently in her pocket.

It was a text from Kevin, the waiter at Miller’s Corner.

Chloe read the message. The blood drained from her face.

"Thomas," Chloe gasped, stopping him in his tracks.

"What is it?" Thomas asked.

Richard Dale began to laugh. It was a cold, venomous sound that echoed off the glass walls.
