Marcus lowered the phone slightly, his eyes narrowing as he locked onto Victoria’s trembling gaze.
"You really should have asked what kind of cases I handle before you made that call," Marcus said with chilling calm.
The silence that settled over the manicured lawn was instant and suffocating.
"My name is Marcus Vance," he continued, addressing both the officers and the watching neighbors. "I am a senior partner at Vance & Sterling, specializing in federal civil rights violations, systemic housing discrimination under the Fair Housing Act, and municipal tort claims."
Victoria’s jaw went slack. The smug confidence drained from her face as her posture collapsed.
