Chapter V: The Final Decision
Chairman Bennett stood up, brushing off his coat with effortless dignity. He looked straight into Brenda's terrified face.
"You manage a station of ten thousand people every day," Chairman Bennett said, his voice carrying like thunder across the quiet concourse. "Yet you treated a thirsty stranger like vermin, and punished the only soul with enough courage to show mercy."
Bennett turned to the Chief of Police.
"Strip Ms. Vance of her supervisory credentials immediately. She is permanently barred from holding any position within our network."
Brenda wept in total humiliation as security escorted her away under the watchful gaze of hundreds of cheering passengers.
Chairman Bennett then turned to Tommy, placing a warm, strong hand on the young attendant's shoulder.
"You gave up your job today just to give an old man water," Bennett said with deep emotion. "True character is what you do when nobody is looking. Starting today, you are appointed Director of Passenger Welfare, with a full university trust fund in your name."
Tears filled Tommy's eyes as the entire terminal erupted in applause, proving that no act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.
