Diane stared at him. “Who are you?”Isaiah exhaled slowly.

“My name is Isaiah Carter.”She shook her head.

“I know your name.”“No,” Harold said quietly. “I don’t believe you do.”

Laura stepped beside Isaiah. “Mr. Carter is the chief executive officer of Prestige Atlantic.”The cabin went silent in a way Isaiah had experienced only a few times in his life.

Diane’s lips parted. Greg took one involuntary step backward.Melissa covered her mouth.

Isaiah immediately hated the silence. It made the whole morning sound like a story about insulting the wrong passenger. That was not the lesson he wanted anyone to learn.

Diane whispered, “This was a test?”“It was an audit flight.”

Her expression twisted. “So you tricked us.”Isaiah shook his head.

“I bought a ticket.”“You hid who you were.”

“Yes.”“So we were supposed to somehow know?”

“No.”His answer came immediately.

“You were supposed to treat Seat 2A according to the ticket, the manifest, and the passenger’s behavior.” He pointed toward the boarding pass lying beside his phone.“You did not need to know my job.”

Diane’s eyes filled, but her voice remained defensive. “I saw something on your booking.”Isaiah went still.
