BOOM!
High above, the plant's secondary circuit breakers exploded in a blinding flash of blue sparks, instantly plunging the entire facility into pitch darkness. Emergency pressure valves opened automatically, venting thick white steam across the catwalks and blinding the mercenaries.
Sparks rained down as chaos erupted.
"KILL HIM!" Eleanor screamed frantically, opening fire blindly into the fog.
Arthur dropped to one knee, drawing his silenced handgun. Moving like a ghost through the steam he knew so well, he fired three precision shots. Three mercenaries tumbled over the railing, crashing onto the concrete floor below.
On the ground floor, Leo yanked his brother through the open floor hatch just as the final mercenary rushed toward the pillar. Arthur stepped out from the steam behind the gunman, neutralizing him with a single swift blow.
"Leo! Get Daniel out through the tunnel now!" Arthur yelled.
Up on the catwalk, Eleanor scrambled toward the fire escape, clutching her gun. Arthur bounded up the iron stairs, his heavy boots echoing like thunder.
"It's over, Eleanor!" Arthur bellowed, stepping onto the catwalk, blocking her path.
Cornered, Eleanor spun around, her eyes wild with unhinged fury. She raised her firearm: "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me!"
CRACK!
A single gunshot shattered the air. Eleanor froze. She looked down in disbelief as a red flower bloomed across the chest of her tactical jacket. She stumbled backward, hit the rusted guardrail, and tipped over the edge, plunging into the dark, churned waters of the ocean below.
Behind Arthur stood Detective Miller, who lowered his smoking service weapon through a broken skylight above. "Told you we'd cover the perimeter, Vance."
Three weeks later.
The morning sun broke through the clouds over Crestview, bathing the city in warm golden light.
In the sunlit gardens of the Vance estate, eight-year-old Lily laughed joyfully as she ran across the green lawn, throwing a frisbee to a golden retriever. Standing on the patio watching her were Leo and Daniel, both fully recovered and dressed in crisp new clothes, having been officially taken into Arthur's personal care and given executive roles at Vance Group.
Arthur walked out onto the terrace, holding three glasses of fresh lemonade. He handed them to the brothers and looked out over his quiet, peaceful estate.
"Thank you, Arthur," Daniel said softly. "For everything."
Arthur placed a firm, fatherly hand on Leo's shoulder, looking down at the young boy who had risked everything to shout the truth in a rain-drenched graveyard.
"No," Arthur said with a warm smile. "Thank you. You taught me that even in the darkest storm, a single brave voice can shatter the greatest evil."
