The officiant began.
When the time came for vows, Dante spoke first.
“Nora, the night we met, I thought power meant being feared.”
“Then you stood in front of my father and answered him without lowering your eyes.”
The guests laughed softly.
Dante continued.
“You taught me that respect cannot be demanded.”
“It has to be earned.”
His voice trembled.
“I promise to spend my life earning yours.”
Then she spoke.
“Dante, I spent years believing my family's past was something I had to escape.”
She looked toward Salvatore.
“But you helped me discover that the truth doesn't have to destroy us.”
“It can give us a place to begin again.”
She took his hands.
“I promise to love you honestly.”
“To stand beside you.”
“And to never let either of us hide behind silence again.”
They exchanged rings.
The officiant pronounced them married.
And Dante kissed Nora beneath the Sicilian sun.
Later, during the celebration, Nora stood beside an old stone wall.
Salvatore approached.
He handed her a small envelope.
“Pietro wrote this years ago.”
Nora opened it.
Inside was a single sentence in Sicilian.
The sparrow may leave the mountain, but the mountain will always remember her song.
Dante stepped beside her.
He read the words.
Then wrapped his arm around her.
“Your grandfather would be proud.”
“I hope so.”
Dante kissed her forehead.
“I know so.”
As the sun set over the hills, Nora looked toward the village where her grandfather had been born.
For years, she had believed her family history was a collection of losses.
Now she understood it was also a story of survival.
Pietro had survived betrayal.
Elena had tried to expose the truth.
Salvatore had finally found the courage to confess.
And Dante had chosen a different future.
The shy waitress who once feared speaking out of turn had found her voice.
And the man who once ruled through fear had learned to listen.
Together, they walked toward the music.
Toward their family.
Toward a life built not on secrets, but on truth.
