To my right lay the original 1999 deed rider bearing my grandmother's signature and Thomas Sterling's fraudulent contingency clauses. To my left lay the federal indictment documents locking away Jonathan Cross and freezing every asset tied to Crossline Holdings.

"The restructuring of Apex Air is complete," I announced, my voice carrying clearly across the silent room. "Every fraudulent lien, every hidden shell company, and every vestige of Thomas Sterling's unauthorized control has been legally dissolved and expunged from our corporate registry."

A murmur of approval rippled through the senior directors.

"Furthermore," I continued, sliding the deed rider toward the center of the table, "this property lien—illegally held and weaponized against my family for over two decades—has been officially nullified by federal judicial decree. My grandmother's estate is free, clear, and completely unencumbered."

Evelyn Brooks nodded approvingly from the back of the room, while Marcus Vance offered a quiet, respectful nod of support.

When the meeting adjourned an hour later, the board members filed out one by one, leaving me alone in the sunlit boardroom. I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out over the bustling Los Angeles skyline where airplanes climbed steadily into the crisp morning sky.

My phone buzzed on the glass table.

I picked it up. It was a text message from an unknown number—or rather, a number I hadn't seen on my screen in weeks.

I signed the divorce papers, Megan, Brandon's message read. I'm moving out of state to start over near my father's care facility. I know an apology doesn't fix what I broke, but I wanted you to know... I finally learned how to tell the truth.

I stared at the screen for a long moment, feeling a strange, quiet release settle deep in my chest. The anger that had fueled me for twelve years—the desire for revenge, the need to prove myself against a world built on lies—had finally burned itself out, leaving behind something much stronger, much truer.

I placed my phone down on the table, walked over to my designer tote bag, and picked up the small, framed photograph I had kept tucked inside since my first day back as Chairwoman—a picture of myself as a young, hopeful flight attendant standing proudly in front of an airplane, long before any of the lies had started.

The door to the boardroom opened softly.

I turned around, expecting Marcus or Evelyn. Instead, standing in the doorway was Daphne, my loyal friend and former colleague who had stood by me through every trial, holding a fresh cup of coffee and a warm, knowing smile.

"Car's waiting downstairs, boss," Daphne said softly. "Are you ready to go home?"
