Joseph laughed.

"You're going to say that again?"

"Yes."

"Then I'm going to ignore you again."

Caleb looked at him.

"Why?"

Joseph's expression softened.

"Because someone once gave me a second chance."

Caleb waited.

Joseph continued.

"Years ago, I was the skinny kid."

Caleb smiled.

"You?"

Joseph laughed.

"Yeah."

"What happened?"

"I made a lot of mistakes."

"Who helped you?"

Joseph looked toward the garage window.

"My older brother."

"What happened to him?"

Joseph's smile disappeared.

"He died."

Caleb became quiet.

"He believed I could become something better."

Joseph looked at Caleb.

"So when I saw you on that diner floor..."

He paused.

"I remembered him."

Caleb looked down at the scholarship.

Joseph continued.

"You saved my life that night."

He tapped the envelope.

"I'm not paying you back."

"I'm giving you the chance somebody once gave me."

Caleb wiped his eyes.

"Thank you."

Joseph put a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't thank me."

"Then what do I do?"

Joseph smiled.

"Earn it."

Two years passed.

Caleb graduated near the top of his class.

He opened his own small repair shop.

Sarah finally got a reliable car.

And every few months, dozens of motorcycles would appear outside Caleb's shop.

Nobody knew exactly why.

They simply knew that whenever those motorcycles arrived, the bikers were there for one reason.

Family.

One afternoon, a young boy came into Caleb's shop with his father.

The boy was skinny.

Maybe thirteen.

He looked nervous.

His father pointed at an old motorcycle.

"My son wants to learn."

Caleb smiled.

"Does he?"

The boy nodded.

"What do you know about engines?"

"Nothing."

Caleb laughed.

"Perfect."

The boy looked confused.

"Why is that perfect?"

"Because you don't have anything wrong to unlearn."

The boy smiled.

Caleb handed him a pair of gloves.

"Come on."

As they walked toward the garage, Caleb noticed Joseph standing outside.

Older now.

Gray spreading through his beard.

But still enormous.

Still wearing the same black vest.

Joseph nodded toward the boy.

"Another one?"

Caleb smiled.
