He looked at the screen."Captain, there's something else."Reynolds turned."What?"Marcus hesitated."Someone just sent us a video."Daniel looked up."Of what?"Marcus answered quietly."Officer Hayes. From last week."The video had been recorded seven days earlier.A young woman named Emily Carter had been traveling through the terminal with her seventy-year-old father. Her father, a retired schoolteacher, had difficulty walking after knee surgery. When he accidentally entered the wrong security lane, Rebecca Hayes confronted him.The footage showed Rebecca pointing aggressively toward the exit."You can't just walk wherever you want!"The elderly man tried to explain."I'm sorry, Officer. I didn't see the sign."Rebecca stepped closer."Then maybe you shouldn't be traveling alone."Emily moved beside her father."Please don't speak to him like that."Rebecca turned on her."Stay out of police business!"The video continued. The elderly man appeared visibly distressed.Emily asked for Rebecca's badge number.Rebecca threatened to remove them both from the terminal. Then the recording ended.Captain Reynolds watched in silence.Rebecca's face had turned pale."That video doesn't show the whole situation," she protested.Daniel nodded."That's possible. We'll review the complete recordings before reaching conclusions."Rebecca seized on his words."Exactly! You can't judge me based on a few seconds!""That's why we're conducting a full investigation."Daniel turned toward Reynolds."Captain, I want the original body-camera footage, dispatch records, incident reports, and any relevant surveillance recordings preserved."Reynolds nodded."Understood."Rebecca looked toward the door."Am I free to go?"Reynolds answered."You're being relieved of duty pending review."Her eyes widened."What?""Turn in your badge and service weapon according to department procedure."Rebecca stared at him."You can't be serious.""I am.""Captain, I've served this department for eleven years!"Reynolds' expression hardened."And that makes this situation more concerning, not less."Rebecca slowly removed her badge. Her hands trembled.Daniel watched without satisfaction. He had seen this moment many times before. The collapse of someone who confused authority with personal power.Rebecca placed the badge on the desk. Then she looked at Daniel."You planned this."Daniel shook his head."No.""You came here looking for me!""I came here for an official meeting."
