Chapter II: The Extortion in Broad Daylight

Miller let out a loud, mocking laugh.

"Yours? Right. And I'm the Governor."

Miller casually flipped past the badge and unzipped the wallet's cash compartment. He pulled out a stack of crisp twenty-dollar bills, flipping through the cash with practiced greed.

Without a trace of hesitation, Miller slid the entire wad of money directly into his own uniform breast pocket.

He then closed the leather wallet and tossed it carelessly onto the asphalt, letting the leather and the gold badge skitter across the dirt by Frank's boots.

"Just keep driving," Miller sneered, waving a dismissive hand as he and Boggs turned their backs to walk toward the patrol car.

Frank didn't shout. He didn't rush them.

Slowly and deliberately, Frank knelt on the gravel. With steady, weathered fingers, he picked up the wallet from the dirt, dusting off the gold emblem before slipping it into his jacket.
