Marcus didn't let go.Instead, he drew his right hand back.The sickening, sharp CRACK of skin on skin echoed through the frozen silence of Gate B14.The gate agent had slapped her.He hit her with an open palm, striking the side of her face with so much force that it knocked her completely off balance.She fell backward, crashing hard onto the filthy carpet, her arms wrapped fiercely around her crying toddler to absorb the impact of the fall.Total, absolute chaos erupted.The crowd didn't just gasp; they exploded."Hey!" I roared, completely abandoning my bag and sprinting forward.Three other men jumped up from their seats, rushing toward the gate desk."Did you just hit her?!" an older woman screamed, pulling her own phone out to start recording.Marcus immediately realized he had crossed a line, but his pride and adrenaline refused to let him back down.He puffed out his chest, stepping back behind the desk and grabbing the PA microphone."Security to Gate B14 immediately!" Marcus yelled into the mic, his voice echoing loudly across the terminal. "I have a violent passenger who assaulted an airline employee! I need her arrested!"It was a blatant, desperate lie, and everyone knew it.I reached the mother first, dropping to my knees beside her.
