Donald reached into his inner pocket, pulled out a black smartphone, and speed-dialed an encrypted priority direct line.

Bringing the receiver to his ear, Donald stood tall on the curb, his sharp gaze locking onto the back of Miller’s squad car.

His deep, razor-sharp voice echoed with unmistakable command:

"Main Street bank. Intercept Unit 4."

Sitting behind the wheel of the squad car, Miller adjusted his rearview mirror. Seeing the old man talking calmly on the phone while staring directly at the cruiser, Miller furrowed his brow, an unsettling knot of dread suddenly forming in his chest.

Chapter IV: The Lockdown

Miller reached for the gear shift to pull away, but the cruiser’s tactical dispatch terminal suddenly shrieked with a piercing priority alert tone.

"All regional units, priority Code Red. Immediate operational lockdown on Unit 4. Officers Miller and Briggs, stay in the vehicle and keep your hands visible. State Special Operations is on scene."
