"That truck is five times over the legal structural limit," Mark warned, pointing directly to the posted DOT weight sign. "If that vehicle rolls onto those timbers, the cross-beams will collapse straight into the river."
Chapter II: "Punch It, Cody!"
Tessa scoffed with utter disdain, rolling her eyes as if the laws of physics were merely negotiable HOA bylaws.
She turned her back on the state inspector, stepped toward the driver's side cab of the roaring yellow dump truck, and waved her hand wildly in a forward motion.
"Punch it, Cody!" Tessa screamed up at the driver. "If it breaks, we'll replace it!"
The truck driver revved the engine, the transmission grinding as the massive yellow vehicle began rolling forward toward the entrance of the wooden tunnel.
Mark didn't panic. He didn't wave his arms or attempt to jump in front of thirty tons of moving steel.
