Clara didn't even glance at Mark. Her eyes locked onto the green military vehicle parked in the driveway, then snapped back to Elena's uniform with dripping condescension.
"That vehicle does not belong in this neighborhood!" Clara barked, her voice loud enough to draw neighbors out onto their porches. "Commercial and utility oversized vehicles are strictly prohibited under Section 8 of the bylaws! You are lowering the property values of this entire street with that monstrous machine!"
Chapter III: The Threat and the Badge
Behind Clara, several neighbors gathered near the curb. Among them was Mr. Thompson, an elderly homeowner who watched the scene with visible embarrassment at Clara's behavior.
"Clara, leave them alone, they just arrived," Mr. Thompson called out quietly.
"Stay out of this, Arthur!" Clara snapped over her shoulder. She turned back to Elena, pointing a sharply manicured finger inches from the soldier’s rank insignia. "You have twenty minutes to move that глазаore off this street, or I’ll have county impound tow it away and have both of you cited for neighborhood disturbance!"
Elena took a slow, measured breath. Having led a logistics battalion through active conflict zones, she was not about to be intimidated on her own porch.
She set the cardboard box down gently on the porch mat, straightened her posture, and stepped forward. At five-foot-eight, her disciplined military bearing towered over the agitated woman in pink.
"Ma'am," Elena spoke, her voice low, crisp, and carrying the unshakable weight of command authority. "This vehicle is an authorized military transport approved under federal service relocation orders. It is parked entirely within my private driveway, not obstructing traffic, and will depart the moment our personal effects are cleared."
