Frank's job was not to find out.
It was simply to survive the encounter and bring the evidence home.
Chapter 4 — The Photograph
After the roadside stop, Frank received a call from his daughter Claire.
A stranger had visited her home.
He claimed to have known Daniel.
He also knew details that had never been released publicly.
Before leaving, the man gave Claire a photograph.
It showed Frank beside his pickup during the traffic stop.
The photograph had been taken that same afternoon.
Frank immediately contacted Shaw.
Her reaction was unusually sharp.
"Don't go home yet."
"Why?"
"Because someone may have known about the operation."
Frank looked through his rearview mirror.
A dark SUV had been following him for several miles.
He changed lanes.
The SUV followed.
He slowed.
It slowed.
Shaw ordered him to drive toward a predetermined safe location.
Then the SUV disappeared.
For a few seconds, Frank felt relieved.
Then his phone rang again.
