"Don't give me your local folklore, old man!" Victoria hissed, tapping her binder furiously. "We have the master development plan registered with the county planning board. You are squatting on prime residential land, and I will have you in handcuffs before noon!"

Deputy Bradley cleared his throat uncomfortably, holding up a hand to calm the woman. "Hold on a second, Ms. Vance. Let's look at the paperwork." He turned to Arthur. "Arthur, you got the documentation with you?"

"Right here, Tom," Arthur replied, pulling a heavy manila folder from the pocket of his denim overalls. He unfolded a thick, notarized parchment sealed with the official gold crest of the district circuit court.

Deputy Bradley took the document, adjusting his sunglasses as he scanned the lines of crisp legal text. Victoria folded her arms, tapping her foot with impatient arrogance, assuming the document was nothing more than an outdated farm lease.
