Marcus’s gaze drifted down, and the moment his eyes landed upon the locket, his breath hitched violently. His legendary, unyielding composure instantly cracked, revealing a blinding flash of absolute, agonizing shock. He knew that locket. He had spent months meticulous carving and polishing that exact piece silver twenty-two years ago, right before he was framed and dragged away to a maximum-security federal prison.

Marcus turned his head slightly, staring down at Chloe’s pale face with a sudden, wild, burning intensity. He examined the sharp cut of her jaw, the slight cleft in her chin, and the striking, unique amber flecks embedded within her forest-green eyes—eyes he had spent twenty long years staring at in his dreams behind concrete walls.

The sheer weight of realization struck him like a physical blow to the chest.

"Your mother..." Marcus whispered, his gravelly voice suddenly raspy, cracking with an overwhelming wave of raw emotion. "Was her name... Clara?"

Chloe stared up at the giant outlaw, her own eyes widening in utter bewilderment. "Yes," she breathed, her voice barely audible over the hum of the diner's refrigerator. "How... how could you possibly know that?"

A FATHER'S REVELATION

Marcus slowly turned back around to face Silas, but the stunned shock in his dark eyes had instantaneously transformed into a blinding, murderous, protective fury. Silas, instinctively sensing the sudden, dangerous shift in atmospheric pressure, involuntarily took a step back, his arrogant bravado evaporating under Marcus's lethal, predatory glare.

"You're Clara's brother-in-law," Marcus growled, stepping directly into Silas's personal space until their chests almost touched. "The greedy bastard who stole her inheritance, ruined her business, and ran her into an early grave. And now you're hunting her daughter."

Silas stammered, his sickly pale face losing what little color it had left. "Who... who the hell do you think you are?"

With a slow, deliberate motion, Marcus reached up and pulled back the damp leather collar of his shirt, revealing a faded, dark blue tattoo inked over his left collarbone—a roaring wolf, identical down to the finest detail to the silver design carved into Chloe's locket.

"I'm the man who should have been there twenty years ago," Marcus barked, his voice booming across the diner like a crack of thunder. "I'm her father."
