The older officer looked at him.
“Then explain the context.”
The first officer opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
The man holding the phone spoke quietly.
“There is more.”
Everyone looked at him.
The officer asked,
“More what?”
The man looked directly at the older officer.
“There are three recordings.”
The first officer's face became pale.
The older woman stared at the man.
“You recorded all of it?”
“I started recording when I realized something wasn't right.”
The older officer took the phone again.
He watched the third recording.
This one was shorter.
But it showed something important.
A person had approached the first officer before the confrontation began.
The person was barely visible.
But the conversation was clear enough.
The older officer paused the video.
“Who is that?”
The man shook his head.
“I don't know.”
The older woman suddenly spoke.
“I do.”
Everyone turned toward her.
She looked frightened.
“That is the man who came to my house yesterday.”
The older officer looked at her.
“What did he want?”
“He told me I needed to leave.”
“Leave your house?”
She nodded.
“He said someone wanted the property.”
The crowd fell silent.
The first officer immediately interrupted.
“That has nothing to do with this.”
The older officer turned toward him.
“How do you know?”
The first officer froze.
The question hung in the air.
The man with the phone slowly lowered it.
Then he said,
“Because he already knew about the complaint.”
The older officer looked at him.
“What do you mean?”
“He mentioned it before the officer arrived.”
The older officer's expression changed.
“Are you saying the complaint was arranged?”
“I don't know.”
The man pointed toward the phone.
“But the video might tell you.”
The older officer replayed the footage.
This time, he watched every second carefully.
The first officer stood behind him.
His confidence was gone.
The woman looked around at the crowd.
People who had previously been silent were now watching closely.
One resident stepped forward.
“I saw that man yesterday too.”
Another person spoke.
“So did I.”
A third resident raised a hand.
“He came to my house last week.”
The older officer looked at everyone.
“Did he identify himself?”
“No.”
“Did he show you any documents?”
“No.”
