Then Dustin stepped into frame.

“You already agreed.”

“I changed my mind.”

“You don’t get to.”

The video cut.

A second clip showed Tyler unconscious on the floor.

Coach Nolan crouched beside him.

“Everybody listens.”

Miller replayed the final line.

Everybody listens.

The hospital room suddenly felt smaller.

“Where is Tyler?”

Emily shook her head.

“I don’t know.”

“Did Dustin ever mention him?”

“Once.”

“What did he say?”

She swallowed.

“That Tyler finally learned.”

Miller looked at the flash drive he had copied the files onto.

“Have you shown police?”

“No.”

“Why?”

Emily’s eyes filled again.

“Because Dustin said if I went to them, he’d tell everyone I attacked him first.”

Miller stared at her.

“He has pictures.”

“Of what?”

“Scratches.”

“From you defending yourself?”

She nodded.

“He said the gym would back him.”

Miller understood.

Professional fighter.

Respected coach.

A room full of loyal men.

Against a schoolteacher with bruises.

Emily whispered:

“I was scared nobody would believe me.”

Miller took her hand.

“I believe you.”

She looked at him.

That sentence broke something.

Tears finally came.

Miller stayed until she stopped apologizing for crying.

Then he stood.

“Where are you going?”

“Police.”

“Dad.”

He paused.

“After that?”

Miller looked at the flash drive.

“The gym.”

Emily tried to sit up.

“No.”

“I’m not going there to fight.”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“Yes.”

She stared at him.

Miller almost smiled.

“I’m old, not stupid.”

“Dustin is dangerous.”

“So am I.”

Her face tightened.

Miller added:

“When I forget why I’m there.”

He held up the drive.

“This keeps me from forgetting.”

Before he left, Emily grabbed his wrist.

“There’s a fighter named Jake Turner.”

“What about him?”

“He knows something.”

“How?”

“He warned me not to trust Coach Nolan.”

Miller nodded.

“Which one is Jake?”

“Brown hair. Scar over his eyebrow.”

Miller remembered the name.

Two years earlier, one of his former Marines had mentioned a promising fighter trained at Nolan Combat.

Jake Turner.

Miller walked toward the door.

Emily called after him.

“Dad?”

He turned.

“Please come back.”

Miller looked at his daughter.

“I will.”

👉 But when Miller entered Nolan Combat, Jake Turner was the fighter who recognized him—and Jake looked more frightened of Dustin than impressed by Miller.

Chapter 4 - Nobody Touches the Old Man

Back in the gym, Dustin stared at the flash drive.

“What’s on that?”

Miller slipped it back into his pocket.

“You know.”

Coach Nolan stepped forward.

“This conversation is over.”

“No.”

Nolan’s smile vanished.

“This is my gym.”
