“Shut your mouth.”
Jake finally snapped.
“Tyler almost died because of you.”
Silence.
Dustin took one step toward him.
Jake backed away.
Miller moved between them.
Dustin laughed.
“You going to protect everybody now?”
Miller looked at him.
“No.”
Then toward Jake.
“He protects himself when he decides he’s done being afraid.”
Jake’s jaw tightened.
Coach Nolan rushed toward his office.
Two fighters blocked him.
Not because Miller ordered them.
Because the room had changed.
Nolan stared.
“Move.”
Nobody did.
Sirens sounded outside.
Dustin’s head whipped toward the front doors.
“What did you do?”
Miller answered:
“Told the truth.”
Three police vehicles pulled up.
Then an unmarked sedan.
Detectives entered with a warrant.
Coach Nolan shouted about lawyers.
Dustin demanded explanations.
Jake simply sat against the cage.
Relief made him look exhausted.
A detective approached Miller.
“Mr. Miller?”
“Sergeant’s fine.”
“We got the files from your daughter.”
Miller nodded.
“Good.”
Another officer began securing Nolan’s office.
Then a young detective emerged holding a ledger.
“Coach?”
Nolan said nothing.
The detective opened it.
Names.
Amounts.
Fight dates.
Bets.
Payments.
One entry made Jake stand.
TYLER GRANT — 40K LOSS — HANDLE.
He stared at it.
“You wrote that?”
Nolan shouted:
“It doesn’t mean anything!”
Jake’s face changed.
“Where is Tyler?”
No answer.
Jake moved toward Nolan.
Miller caught his arm.
“Not like this.”
“He almost killed him.”
“I know.”
“You don’t.”
Jake turned.
“He made Dustin beat Tyler for twenty minutes.”
Miller’s eyes moved toward Dustin.
Dustin’s confidence vanished.
Jake continued.
“Then Tyler disappeared.”
A detective stepped closer.
“Disappeared how?”
Jake swallowed.
“I drove him to a clinic.”
“What clinic?”
“An unlicensed place Nolan used.”
“Where?”
Jake gave the address.
The detective immediately radioed another unit.
Dustin stared at Jake.
“You’re dead.”
Every officer in the room heard it.
Miller looked at Dustin.
“Thank you.”
Dustin frowned.
“For what?”
“For making my daughter’s case easier.”
👉 Police thought they were investigating domestic assault and illegal betting—until they found Tyler Grant’s blood inside Coach Nolan’s locked storage room.
Chapter 6 - The Room Behind the Bags
The storage room was hidden behind six heavy punching bags.
Most fighters didn’t know it existed.
Jake did.
He had seen Nolan enter twice.
Never leave the door open.
Police found blood on the concrete.
A broken phone.
Medical supplies.
And a chair bolted to the floor.
